I am interested not only in creating a representational image, but also in the multi-faceted worlds that make up that image: color, texture, materials, techniques, references to literature and popular culture. . . I draw and paint in acrylics, oils and watercolors AND paint murals, collaborate with sculptors, poets, designers, architects, environmentalists and on stage sets..

My journey began in the midwest: I grew up in Racine,Wisconsin until 5th grade, then spent my high school years in Winnetka, Illinois. I went to college in Southern California at an experimental school- Johnston College. I hold a MFA from Maryland Institute Graduate School of Painting. From there I moved to New York City for 12 years-living in the West Village and exploring beyond 14th St. I worked at the Bronx Zoo as a tour guide, taught in artist- in -the -school programs throughout the city, worked with museums, and nature centers and painting murals . When I met my ex-husband, we went to sea- travelling in boats up and down the eastern seaboard, and settling for several years in Newport, Rhode Island.

I returned to the Chicagoland area when my daughter was born. For the past 10 years, I have been living in Lake Bluff dividing my time between teaching with Golden Artist Colors throughout the midwest, painting/showing on a national level, as well as painting murals and public art commissions.

My curiosity about looking beneath the surface, being challenged by collaboration and a commitment to art as a vehicle for communication and community informs my artistic practice.
